How To Incorporate Everyday Photos In Your Holiday Cards by Chris Harmen
This year’s holiday cards can be transformed from mass-produced varieties into uniquely delightful Christmas photo cards that feature pictures from your family album that will put the ho-ho-ho back into the season and create mementoes that will be treasured for years to come. Selecting and incorporating the best pictures for your holiday correspondence requires only a few steps and a little creativity. For the uninspired and the less-than-artistic types, there are reputable online photo greeting card companies that can provide the support needed to create holiday correspondence unlike any other.
While professional family portraits are lovely, it is not necessary to go to the extra expense and trouble of hiring a professional photographer when your computer is probably home to dozens or even hundreds of excellent photographs you can use. If you don’t see something that seems exactly right, there’s still plenty of time to take more pictures, download them to your computer, and then transfer them to an online greeting card company that can print out high quality products for surprisingly little. Your biggest task is to select the theme and layout.
Seasonal Favorites
Most Christmas photo cards feature red and green, and are accented with silver or gold. They can be emblazoned with ribbons and bows, snowflakes, snowmen or Santa Claus, or feature a nativity scene. These traditional favorites lend themselves to a variety of everyday photographs that you probably already have handy: the kids building a snowman, the new baby seated in Santa’s lap, confirmation photos, the family baking red and green cupcakes, or your child eating cookies and milk. Each of these everyday photographs can be incorporated into Christmas photo cards.
Collage Holiday Cards
Several pictures can be added onto this year’s holiday cards to provide recipients with a real feel for what has been going on for the immediate family during the past year. Graduations, new babies, marriages, or sports or academic achievements can all be the focus of the collage. These milestones and events provide a simple and easy-to-identify theme. If there isn’t a single event or theme that comes to mind, family pictures can be searched with an eye for a specific color, facial expression, setting, or any other unifying theme.
Dual-Purpose Correspondence
Holiday correspondence can also be repurposed to celebrate multiple events. The birth or an adoption of a new family member, a graduation, or a marriage are all perfect opportunities to combine Christmas photo cards with equally notable events. The newest ‘bundle of joy’ can be a ‘family gift’. A graduation ceremony can be equated to the ‘brightest star’ illuminating the way to happy holidays and a glorious future. A wedding announcement can be combined with seasonal correspondence as the new couple ’shares their joy’ and offers a holiday recipe for happiness and love ever after. The nicest part about these repurposed documents, aside from saving money, is that there are usually dozens upon dozens of everyday photographs available to choose from, play with, and incorporate.
How To Create Online Christmas Photo Cards
Creating online holiday cards is surprisingly simple, even for the non-artistic and technologically challenged. Online producers of Christmas photo cards make the process quite simple and easy. The first step is to ensure that all of the photographs are, in fact, stored on the computer. Next, locate a reputable online photo greeting card company that has plenty of templates, color schemes, layouts, options, and special touches for you to use. Look for a company that has excellent customer reviews and professional services. For pictures to look their best, they should be printed on 100-pound card stock.
Look through the templates and select two or three that appeal to you the most. Next, select the quantity you will be ordering. Then, upload family pictures into a personal library on the website. From there, all you have to do is click and drag your pictures onto the template. If the photograph needs to be cropped, or if you want to add special effects, that can also be done at this time. After adding your pictures, the personalization begins. Step by step, you will add your own text, using the handy prompts and organizational buttons provided online.
Unlike creating homemade holiday correspondence, there’s no cutting, pasting, gluing, taping, or mess to clean up! You can try out different fonts, color schemes, and templates, all with just the click of a button. Incorporating your everyday pictures into beautiful, professionally printed holiday cards could never be easier or more rewarding.
